I wrote about Super Metroid about a decade ago. In addition to a number of errors, I no longer have a subwoofer-equipped system (the old one started to have issues and was replaced with a modest pair of speakers for financial reasons)...and yes, Samus DOES appear with less clothes, with a black tank top and matching high waist-cut panties.
My most recent attempt was on a Nintendo 3DS on their Virtual Console, a purchased title that ended when I was attempting a 100% run because I wasn't able to get a particularly annoying Missile upgrade in Maridia...and when I picked up the game a few years later I had no real idea where I was or the layout of the game. I ended up restarting and followed a walkthrough to get my time under three hours...which was a bust as I still ended up with a time of 3:54, well over three hours (would not recommend again). I usually use a walkthrough to accompany games but PLEASE don't use a walkthrough the first time you go through Super Metroid with the exception of issues (bosses, etc.) because the walkthrough destroys any sense of exploration. That being said, go ahead and use guides on your second run.
I can't just wave by a "GREAT" rating without addressing the "overrated" accusation that Super Metroid, and the only thing I have to say that the controls are wonky at times. Wall jumps, accidentally cancelling an item with the Y button, an overall non-standard layout for SNES games, and a few other things make it less-than-perfect, but hey, nothing is.
