Closed Stores of the Southwest Division

Kroger arrived in Houston in the mid-1960s through the acquisition of Henke-Pillot, and continued to expand through new stores primarily in the Houston area. Despite some rough times in the division, it has persevered and still holds one of the highest market shares in Houston. Of course, it has lost many of its old stores along the way, some of them "greenhouse" stores but also a number of others.
