The directory scans below represent The Shops at La Cantera as of August 2006, about a year into the mall's existence. It was after a trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and I remember being hot and sweaty (remember: August in San Antonio). So I was disappointed that the mall was all open-air (except for the food court). This isn't even listed with the Mall Directory Index owing to an old bias I've had about outdoor malls not being "real" malls. Besides, on those pages I tend to give complete histories, but for this mall I'll skip. (It opened in 2005 and has very little history).
Notice that this directory (typical to GGP properties at the time) doesn't actually give the exact locations of the stores; just the general area of the mall. (I would suspect this method hides vacancies, though The Shops at La Cantera didn't have this problem). Because of the upscale lean, it doesn't have a lot in the way of specialty stores. I remember this mall because it had an Apple store. (A lot of malls I went to the early 2000s basically had to have an Apple store, though on this trip my brother wasn't with me). The store is still open and it opened with the mall in September 2005. It was the first Apple store in San Antonio and the only Apple store in the city before another opened at North Star Mall in 2008.

A few things to note:
- Sonic had a few mall restaurants in this time, including Shops at La Cantera. The only ones I know of were at Post Oak Mall and I'm told The Galleria as well. The one at Post Oak Mall did very poorly because of the different business model; likely the others did the same. As you might expect, the Sonic in this mall has since closed.
- This was one of the rare Dillard's stores that had a travel agency department. These were all closed in fall 2008.
- This was the last time Foley's would show up in a mall directory. They already had banners up at this time.
- The mall's Starbucks (located in a storefront rather than a kiosk like in some malls) opened earlier in 2006.
