A short podcast series that I had the pleasure of listening to, Shock Jocks: The Rise and Fall of Opie & Anthony, describes one of the biggest names in 1990s/early 2000s "shock jock" radio not named Howard Stern.
The show got its start when Anthony Cumia, an air conditioning installer living in New York, submitted a parody song to radio stations, "Gonna Electric Shock O.J." (aka Electroshock O.J.), a parody of "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay" at the height of the O.J. Simpson trial.

The song got airplay by DJs in the Northeast, and one of them was a nighttime show hosted by Gregg "Opie" Hughes. Hughes invited Cumia to play it live on The Nighttime Attitude, a show hosted by WBAB in Long Island from 7pm to midnight. He and Hughes ended up hitting it off, starting a career where the two of them hosted a radio show for almost twenty years.

The song is outdated, as some expensive lawyers ultimately got O.J. off the hook, as well as the song parody itself—using blackface in any context is considered highly offensive. I added this page because I couldn't find lyrics for it anywhere else.

I'm sitting in Los Angeles jail, and the judge won't let me post my bail.
Now this could be the end of me, 'cuz Californy's got that death penalty.
They gonna electric shock O.J, cook my behind like a chicken croquette.

Oooh, they gonna electric shock O.J, toast my behind.

Nicole; I really loved that girl, but she had the worst luck in the world.
I was only cleaning my knife; I accidentally stabbed her 36 times.
They gonna electric shock O.J, cook my behind like that cherry flambé.

Oooh, They gonna electric shock O.J., roast my behind.

Looks like I'm a guilty man, loved lots of women, now I'm gonna have to love my hand.
But what's worse, will make me flip my lid, I hear Michael Jackson is watching my kids.

Oh, why don't they cut me some slack? I'm an athlete, movie star, and I'm black.
While those lawyers argue over my head, they be warming up that electrical chair.
They gonna electric shock O.J, cook my behind like that flabby* filet.

Oooh, They gonna electric shock O.J., roast my behind.

(Instruments during spoken part)

They gonna electric shock O.J.

* A live version used "flounder" instead.

I didn't make this page because I was a big O&A fan, it's because I wanted to find ways to expand Carbon-izer and personalize it. It's a bit like that Muppets movie I did a while back, it was unique and I don't intend on making it a regular feature.
