The reboot of this page (starting back on Version 1.0 with a mix of new and recycled entries) doesn't have what was already covered on Numbered Exits. Going down the list, that includes Kreuz Market (619 N. Colorado Street), H-E-B (403 South Colorado Street), Family Dollar (1118 S. Colorado Street), Lockhart Chisholm Trail BBQ (1323 S. Colorado Street), Plum Creek Plaza (1710 S. Colorado Street), and HTeaO (1801 S. Colorado Street). I'e also reserved the this page for covering Lockhart's McDonald's restaurant, which as of this writing (August 1st) is not available.
Schlotzsky's / 111 North Colorado Street
This Schlotzsky's opened in 2018 at the site of a former Philips 66 gas station. The signage for the restaurant (branded as "Schlotzsky's Austin Eatery") is very gas stationesque.
Scooter's Coffee / 102 South Colorado Street
This drive-through coffee shop opened in 2024. Despite its South Colorado Street address, it does not have any access to the road. The entrance is on East San Antonio Street and the exit is on East Market Street.
Exxon / 112 South Colorado Street
The current operator of this Exxon station has been here since 2006; I suspect that the old operator (Jones Food Mart #3) used the Exxon brand as well (at least back to 1990).
Walgreens / 200 S. Colorado St.
The Walgreens occupies a full block and opened around 2007 (completely redeveloped).
Subway / 320 S. Colorado Street
This stand-alone Subway has been here since '93.
631 South Colorado Street
Until sometime in 2021 this was the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. A few years later it was renovated as Redrum (vape shop) and 631A, Bail Bond Hotline of Caldwell County.
Golden Chick / 640 S. Colorado Street
This has operated as a Golden Chick (formerly Golden Fried Chicken) since the mid-1980s. Previously the site was "Dairy Treet" in the 1970s.
Fresh Donuts / 910 S. Colorado Street
This generic-looking donut shop was built new (as "Fresh Donuts") in 2016.
1020 S. Colorado Street
This lot had two buildings, a house and another house-like building operating as K-Nails. It was closed and demolished in the early 2020s.
1030 South Colorado Street
Up until the late 2010s this was an auto lot (183 Auto Sales), but when Wendy's opened here in the early 2020s, they used the wrong address (1130 S. Colorado Street). The title uses the name of the lot.
Dairy Queen / 1125 South Colorado Street
I wrote about the Lockhart Dairy Queen on Two Way Roads back in 2012...the Lockhart Dairy Queen was built in 1987 (though Lockhart had a Dairy Queen for decades prior) and although the restaurant style wasn't unique in and of itself, it was certainly very different from the rest of the Texas Dairy Queen restaurants with red roofs and fairly limited seating. It also had a playground, which for Dairy Queen was quite rare. The inside of the store wasn't particularly interesting but at least was quirky, with a "Medicare Corner" inside, but sometime between August 2010 and July 2011, it went from this to this...in other words, into a generic DQ model that so many restaurants were being built or remodeled into. No playground, no Medicare Corner.
Taco Bell / 1400 S. Colorado Street
Taco Bell (store 20194 prior to 2005, 030170 since) opened in late 1998.
Caldwell County Justice Center / 1703 South Colorado Street
This operated as a Walmart discount store (#292) from 1980 to 2012, and it survived long enough to get the modern circa 2009 "Walmart" logo. The renovation to a county government building came a few years later. It also has the county clerk's office.
Exxon / 1706 South Colorado Street
This goes back to the 1980s as a Diamond Shamrock/Corner Store and was still a Diamond Shamrock as of spring 2008 (it was a Valero by late 2009); unfortunately, Circle K, the successor to Corner Store, decided not to do a full rebrand on this store and pulled out by late 2019. It became an Exxon a few years later. The convenience store is unbranded, as of 2023 you could still see the scar of the old Diamond Shamrock-era Corner Store logo, though it's a little harder to see now due to a repaint.
Verizon / 1712 South Colorado Street
The Verizon store out front next to the Exxon opened in 2011. From 2003 to around 2010 it was a Jack in the Box restaurant.
Southpark Village / 1817 S. Colorado Street
This apartment complex I'm not sure has changed names before. Its original phase was at 1825 S. Colorado Street, the 1817 apartments were developed a few years later. The fact that the addresses were switched suggests that this was not their original name.
LockSmart Climate Storage / 1901 S. Colorado Street
This was Alliance Self Storage until around early 2023 (it completed a major expansion in the late 2010s) when it adopted the CubeSmart name. It was still CubeSmart in 2024 but as of June 2026 it has the current name.
Tractor Supply Company / 2313 South Colorado Street
Tractor Supply Co. #269 opened in 2008.
