Carbon-izer - Highway 71 in Cedar Creek
HIGHWAY 71 IN CEDAR CREEK
This page is largely a combination of what appeared previously on the Bastrop Highway 71 page and the Ben White page, but it has its own numbering. It starts at FM 969 at the 600 block (unclear where the "zero address" is). Version 1.0 features everything here, a mix of imported items and originals. It's not very big, but I plan to expand it in the future. It's in the Austin category but I've given it its own page colors.

Caliber Collision / 654 State Highway 71
This used to be Bastrop Body & Paint and became Caliber Collision between 2018 and 2022 but I can't tell if the old business went under and was replaced by Caliber Collision, or purchased and rebranded.

Bastrop RV Park / 689 Highway 71
There's not a lot to find on Bastrop RV Park. It's been here since at least the late 1990s, as a hybrid RV park/trailer park (the trailer park portion was closer to FM 20 and was slowly converted to additional RV park in the 2010s, though a few trailers still exist). The park was built along an abandoned right of way that curves directly from FM 20 to Highway 71 and until construction of the frontage road in late 2011/early 2012, it was still drivable.

Chinese Dragon / 1019 State Highway 71
This restaurant isn't in a flashy location, there's not much of a sign and you can hardly see this restaurant through the trees. It appears to be a converted house, and lacks a website, but the reviews seem fine.

LifeFamily - Bastrop / 1096 State Highway 71
This was originally built as Bastrop Christian Outreach Center in the early 2000s (and according to their original website, had existed since the early 1980s as a congregation). In 2024, it merged with Austin-based LifeFamily to become LifeFamily - Bastrop.

Sames Bastrop Ford / 1115 State Hwy. 71
This car dealership is off Navarro Lane, not the main highway.

Andre's Automotive / 1177 State Highway 71
Until 2015, Andre's Automotive was on the old right of way of Highway 21 (Union Chapel Road East, closer to 21), but a reconstruction of the creek removed the bridge to that section, so the only way to it is through the main 71 (not that anyone was really crawling up from Highway 21 towards San Marcos...maybe).

Wilson's Heating & Air / 1465 State Highway 71
This business (at least here in this location) was established in the late 2010s.

Sonic Drive-In / 1481 State Highway 71
Sonic Drive-In built circa 2005 but I have also seen this address used by Corner Store next to it (which was built later). While it's in Bastrop, it sometimes uses a Cedar Creek address.

Valero / 1483 State Highway 71
This opened as Corner Store Market (Corner Store's expanded store format, with a different logo) and was a Valero but de-emphasized (the Corner Store logo was on the canopy, and the canopy was green and white). It opened in November 2016 but by fall 2018 it was a Circle K, with more emphasis on the Valero branding (consistent with other Circle K/Valero operations). I have seen this also use the 1481 address and it sometimes uses a Cedar Creek address.

Valero / 1525 State Highway 71
The other Valero at the intersection almost certainly started as a Diamond Shamrock prior to the mid-2000s, this Valero featured Sac-N-Pac when it opened in 2000. When it came to converting to Stripes, Sac-N-Pac dragged its feet (still a SnP as of December 2017, long after the others had converted) but eventually did convert in 2018. It was presumably slated to become a 7-Eleven after 2018 when Stripes was sold to 7-Eleven, but by January 2022, however, it had disconnected from Stripes/7-Eleven and had become a generic "Food Mart". It also had a taller sign as of June 2023 but by May 2024 that was gone.

Agilent Technologies / 1834 State Hwy. 71
The building for this biotechnology company was here in the early 2000s, though I'm not sure Agilent has been here since 2002.

Exxon / 2061 State Highway 71
This Exxon has been here at least here since at least the mid-1990s. The tiny original canopy was rebuilt around 2011 with a more modern one with additional pumps.

Berdoll Pecan Farm / 2626 State Hwy. 71
Berdoll Pecan Candy & Gift Company is the business side of a pecan farm in the area. Even when the store is closed, there's a vending machine with pecan pies. Also see Ms. Pearl the Giant Squirrel, installed in late 2011.

Tractor Supply Company / 2631 State Hwy. 71
It appears that this Tractor Supply Company location opened in 2021.

Valero / McDonald's / 2850 State Highway 71
This combo gas station/McDonald's opened in the mid-2000s as a Chevron/McDonald's (evidence suggests very early 2005, since they likely opened together). The conversion to Valero was difficult. Around August 2022, the gas station brand changed to a Valero (within six months the convenience store was rebranded as "Refuel"), and in December 2022 the Valero sign was officially added, however, the highway sign was also rotated about 45 degrees clockwise in the process and the entire sign, pole and all, was dismantled by March 2023 for reasons unknown. By July 2023 the sign was back up with the Valero sign and its proper orientation.

Circle K / 2854 State Highway 71
This Circle K is located just past FM 214 but before the Travis County line, and was a Shell as of 2010. It gained a Circle K as its convenience store in the early 2010s before Circle K made its full-fledged return across most of Texas, and had the slightly older Circle K logo (before their mid-2010s revamp), this has since been updated. In early 2022, the Shell branding was dropped and it became simply a Circle K.

There's still a ways to go until Ben White Boulevard (different numbering), but we'll cover those addresses another day, perhaps...
