Carbon-izer Presents Uptown Houston - Adam's Mark Houston
Adam's Mark Houston
2900 Briarpark Drive

The Houston Adam's Mark hotel was one of the many developments built in Houston during the late 1970s, a time (since the 1960s) of prosperity, rapid growth, and a great deal of hubris. The Adam's Mark hotel, when it opened in 1980, was the third-largest hotel in Houston with over 600 rooms. The hotel opened in 1980 and included the Marker Restaurant, as well as a few nightclubs. Despite not being on a major road or freeway, Adam's Mark survived the overbuilding of hotels and even the dissolution of most of the Adam's Mark hotel chain. In early 2004 the Adam's Mark hotel was rebranded as the Houston Marriott Westchase following an announcement in 2003. An alternate version of this 1985 ad (from the Houston Post) using full color photos can be seen on old Texas Monthly ads.

First edition published in The Houston Files in November 2018.
