MARLIN H-E-B

H-E-B as a whole has been pretty consistent in updating its older stores, at least from the greater Waco/Temple/Killeen area to the greater Houston area. Build a store in the early 1990s, move it a decade later, expand it to the "Plus!" store a decade after that. Updates that have happened in the early 2000s, with the décor package now disappearing. Yet there's one H-E-B that somehow escaped much of the updates, located in Marlin, Texas. It's not visible from the main Highway 6 corridor, you'll have to go down Highway 7 (Live Oak Street).

Unfortunately, Falls CAD can't tell me when this store was built, but it has operational since at least 1971, and it shows.

These photos were taken in November 2020; as you can see, they have normal price tags and displays, but the walls are all incredibly dated. By the way, the clock you can see down there doesn't work...it says 2:30 but it was actually around 11:40 in the morning.
